Doenças negligenciadas no Brasil: lidando com a esquistossomose em histórias em quadrinhos no ensino fundamental - anos finais.

Abstract

A esquistossomose é uma das doenças negligenciadas no Brasil. Consequentemente, crianças e adolescentes são mais suscetíveis à estas infecções e estão em processo de amadurecimento do sistema imunológico. Visto, que no âmbito escolar, essa população de estudantes está em processo de aprendizagem, é de extrema importância promover a divulgação científica sobre algumas das principais parasitoses existentes no país. Como proposta deste trabalho, o objetivo foi criar uma história em quadrinhos (HQ) para divulgação científica da biologia do parasita Schistosoma mansoni. Dessa forma, a pesquisa foi realizada em uma escola pública para alunos do ensino fundamental II do 6º e 7º ano com a utilização de grupos envolvendo a HQ e/ou apenas o slide que posteriormente foi analisado por meio de um questionário sobre o assunto. O trabalho consistiu em uma pesquisa qualitativa dos resultados. A partir das informações coletadas, dos grupos de alunos aos quais foram aplicadas as duas formas da metodologia HQ + slide, verificou-se que ambos tiveram um reforço do conteúdo e, consequentemente, tiveram maior acerto no questionário. Isso também aconteceu com o grupo que utilizou apenas a HQ. No entanto, embora o grupo de alunos que teve apenas uma breve explicação sobre o assunto, conseguiu acertar aspectos indiretos em relação à doença e ao parasita. A partir dessa análise obtida com base no questionário, a HQ permitiu que os alunos aprendessem ou aprimorassem novos conteúdos de forma científica, além de promover a saúde e a divulgação científica.

Schistosomiasis is one of the neglected diseases in Brazil. Consequently, children and adolescents are more susceptible to these infections and are in the process of maturing the immune system. Since, in the school context, this population of students is in the learning process, it is extremely important to promote scientific dissemination about some of the main parasites existing in the country. As a proposal of this work, the objective was to create a comic book (CB) for scientific dissemination of the biology of the parasite Schistosoma mansoni. In this way, the research was carried out in a public school for students of elementary school II of the 6th and 7th year with the use of groups involving the CB and/or only the slide and analyzed through a questionnaire on the subject. From the information collected, the groups of students to which the two forms of CB + slide methodology were applied, it was found that both had a reinforcement of the content and, consequently, had greater success in the questionnaire. This also happened with the group that used only the CB. However, although the group of students who only had a brief explanation of the subject, managed to hit indirect aspects regarding the disease and the parasite. From this analysis obtained through the questionnaire, the CB allowed students to learn or improve new content in a playful way, as well as to promote health and scientific dissemination.
